If every need to index on a mini rotary table 3"

I am putting a indexing on new table.
Next part it is a 36 tooth worm index chart/table.

Any ever do this small ?

Last night I had to put zip files as would let upload the new format FYI I do not like the new but what is on my phone.

I also found a app on google today it is call Dividing head calculator.

I’ve used one, a lovely little tool.

I have larger one too but it takes time to setup for one part and was just hand laying.
Today getting everything smaller. I hit the 70 mark last year and making changes on size

It still like BS 00
Making 59, 127 and 157 still a Dividing just for that gear.

FYI
59 tooth is for clock builders. Used for 29½ day moon cycle

127 metric threading you can use 37/47 works great too. Chinese way is very close too and great way to too.

157 tooth for worm gears. This only one no has ask me about.

If you rebuilding they always use odd numbers for gears. Compound indexing is great difference takes a long time to setup and takes time test.
There is a third way too not in most books. You indexing head then move the indexing pin one hole to for odd gear. I ran across this for clock makers for moon phase. This accuracy is less than 0.000510 off by one tooth. The guy did for a three other too . This was before the hand held calculator so all paper.

Maybe some here put more light on this way of indexing

As I remember some like this.
It is simple make 3 indexs and then backup one hole.

It is handy to have. It is hard find charts on a lot of rotary tables.

When start with gears I found a lot od odd teeth gears like 51, 53, 63, 77 just every space a Dividing head did not have. It very simple manufacturer whan to sell parts.

I think back then a set odd numbers Dividing plates would a great seller.

Today on Ebay I seen odd numbers like 127 Dividing plates.

If look at chart from machinist hand book. Steps for 51 tooth gear.
1) 8 turns 41 on 47 index plate. .
2) backup 12 holes on a 49 index plate.


By Time you finished you 11 rounds no fun. Very accurate too

UPDATED ON INDEXING

I am using a disk on set collar.
Keeping the indext low to avoid using a sector. (few parts to builded)

Here charts a full and short for almost all work for both color and black & white printers all in PDF Files.

Looks great

One easy way is use an electronic counter used in food and oil production.
I used back in 1980s in cutting steel sheets to length off coils of steel.
I know saw this in 1960s

Today you can buy a gear motor with the encoder all one. Then buy an electronic counter with scaling.
FYI The scaling you make the display read in degrees.

The programing just takes fun out.
