I've started building the Stuart Progress Oscillating Engine.

I started with the flywheel, which was a really nice casting. I machined all the dimensions by eye apart from the diameter. I've videoed the machining, but I forgot to take any still pics! Sorry. I'll try harder for the next update.

I held the flywheel in a 3 jaw chuck, on the inside of the rim which gave me a nice, very true running inside rim. The rest of the process was plain sailing.

Thanks. I do have a soft spot for the more authentic looking oscillating engines.
I have the Crosskill's Oscillating engine ready to start as the next project. That kit is available from Polly Model Engineering.

I've done that. Now I face the center, bore a centrer hole and place the endstock in the hole. Doesn't fly out.

I've completed the main frame of the Progress engine now. This was fairly straight forward once I'd work out a sensible order of operations and how to hold the part. Here's the video.
