Just a little update. I finally got around to removing the welder from the saw and getting inside of the case. It took a little while to figure out that there is a 120v relay and it is actually fed from a separate 120v feed, not through the transformer. Strange but that is how it was done. It does weld after a fashion but not well. It appears that the welding is too slow and it ends up leaving a large gob where it welds and it is not a good weld. I tried a few different settings to see if I could improve the weld but so far I have not been successful. I will continue to play around with it when I get some play around time. At this point it is not a high priority so I will put it in the when I get "a round tuit" category for now.

The welding should be quicker with higher current, but more important is
the blades ends should be forced together under pressure.I assume the
welding fixture on the saw allows for the the movement to push the ends
of the blades together ?
