No pictures here, just a story about a lathe at work today.
30 minutes before the end of my shift the collet in the machine I'm running
stuck shut. The machine tried to load the next part into the collet, destroying the
part and the collet.
While replacing the collet a small air line blew up right under my nose.
After changing my pants, I noticed a steady oil drip coming from the area of the of
the broken air line and suspected the air line oiler switch was stuck on.
I powered down the machine, killed the air supply and repaired the air line.
When I powered it back up a hydraulic line next to the repaired air line blew out.
So that's where that oil was coming from.
Another change of pants was in order.
Three catastrophic failures in less than 15 minutes.
Maybe the "When It Rains It Pours" gremlins were bored.
