I had seen several engines running on vapor in the past so I had to try one for myself.
The ford engine seemed like the likely candidate as every thing is out in the open and easy to get to.
I removed the fuel line and plugged it. I opened the throttle full open on the carb so there was a straight shot through it and gave the flywheel a few spins. I was afraid that the fuel air mixture would be too lean for the engine to run but it was just the opposite. The mixture was way too rich and would flood the engine immediately. I then made a slit in the plastic line and got some action but there was no way to fine adjust the mixture. I then put a tee in the line going to the carb and blocked off some of the opening. It was still too rich so I removed the blockage and just left tee open.
This is what I got.

This was just an experiment and I will be putting the fuel system back like I originally had it.

Thanks for looking

It seems you have more than just vapour there. I built a vapour carb quite a while back from the plans by Jan Ridder (I think). As I remember it the air coming into the container through the inlet tube does not come in below the surface of the fuel but rather just above the surface so it puffs air onto the surface of the fuel creating evapouration (vapour) rather than turbulance of the fuel. The one I built also had an adjustment for the height of that tube above the surface and also a adjustable air bleed (like you arranged) in the vapour feed tube to the engine.
I will say I could not get it to work very well so my question is - is the way you have it correct? Seems pretty violent. Perhaps a bigger container would "appear" better in operation. Just wondering because I want to use it again on a different engine.
None the less it seems to work well. Good job.

I don't know which way is correct. I only saw a couple of videos showing an engine running with a vapor jar. There was no mention of the vapor container so I just made what I thought might work. It does have a rather violent action and there is some raw fuel visible in the tubes.
As far as the air bleed hole goes sometimes it's better to be lucky than to be good.

Thanks
