I tend to do odd things, both in life and at work. I try to do my best to capture the moment or at least take a snap shot of it. Well, here is my first for you guys. This is what I was working on this past week at work. That is a normal sized Pepsi can sitting on the 1500+ pound gear I was working on. The cutter I was using was a 6 inch shell with 8 carbide inserts. The gear and shaft were cast steel and I could hog out a .125" deep, full width pass with the Cincinnati mill. I do not remember the speed or feed but I am wanting to say I was around 150 RPM and about 3 IPM. Anyway, enough talking, on with the pictures. Sorry for the graininess, I took these with my Ipod...

I have a friend who restores old tractors, the big ones, and he has a mill just like that. Not to mention many gears just like that. :)

I'm going to be down his way sometime this week so I could snap some pics of his shop if anyones interested. ::)

Cheers

Jeff

BTW, that looks like fun. ;D

Thanks for the pics. Thm:
