this isn't a model but i thought some of you guys might like to see what i have been working the last few days.
it is a magneto for a alpha de laval hit or miss gas engine (1 1/2 hp).
the original magneto case is made out of white metal or die cast and it has crumbled with age
so i bought a big hunk of aluminum and started machining a new casing for the mag.

the first pic shows cutting a 4" x 4" x 4" block off the end of a bigger piece.

the next pic shows the almost finished case

the last pic shows what i started with (not all the cracks in the casing)

i think i have a garbage can full of swarf from this project but i was allot of fun.
with a bit more work i think it will be ok ;D

That turned out great. Know all about the cracked mags. Used to collect hit and miss engines. Alas I sold all the big ones and now stick with the models. Nice job.
