Are those die-cast jaws?

Yes die cast.
The cost for steel chuck is about 10x.
It is very hard but i would use for any type turning.
It for light work only.

Heavy work I goto my 8" Table with a 6" steel chuck.

My little 3" rotarytable is being setup for use in a vise.

Makes doing fast projects easy

Herd chuck Backplate I planing making on warmer days.

{{ Mockup mount , chuck & rotary table. }}

Here mockup of chuck on rotary table.
Note 3" barstock for chuck adapter. The table is only 3" diameter

The chuck 1.89" [48 mm] for small work
FYI I 5" for larger work too

{{ FYI why use a 4 jaw on Rotary Table}}

Most time I would tap and a little clamping pressure.
A 4jaw I can adjust just like a lathe in just few minutes be machining in the rotary table.

The mount instead of a through I have a threaded center for clamping down tall parts.

Dave

PS
If ask modt how clamp apart you great answers. Most cases it was a 3 jaw chuck , use Morse taper w/drill chuck or use center hole a and pilot on part.

Dave these are my small chucks off my unimat db200
4jaw is 2-1/3” 3jaw is 2-1/8” both M1-12 thread
I made the straight & MT#2 arbors.
#2 is for my 6” RT
MT #3 & straight arbor is for my old SB9
#3 MT arbor was a drill chuck arbor I cut off & threaded.
#2 & #3 arbors are threaded for draw bar or pull bolt.
The Norton chuck 3jaw is 5”

Looks great
The small 3" rotary tables do not have Morse taper.

My large 8" table has #3 Morse.

I wish if all rotary had a larger hole for long bars.

Like spline shafts on engines.

FYI The way I do long shafts need is make a little longer with stub for chucking in Dividing head. After spline are finished cut sub off.

On repair a spline shft just stub on and machine the stub the mill spline.
