Hello, I'm a german hobby modell-maker (planes) and own a Myford ML7 which I
will never give away again. Now I'm planning to buy a quick change toolpost
but I don't have contact to other Myford owner who can give support. In
Germany we don't have to many Myford-specialists. After searching a while in
the www I almost made up my mind to go buy one of the two sets offered by RDG
tools. Now I have two questions: Are the parts worth of buying and which of
the two types is the better one (HBM vs. Dixon). Any support would be highly
appreciated. Please consider my poor English when answering. Thanks in
advance.
Kind Regards,
Thilo

Of the two I would suggest the Dixon type as you can leave them in one position for 99% of the time and just switch between which side of teh tool post you use.

The quality is not quite upto a true Dickson (not correct spelling) but given the fact they are about 1/5th the price of the real thing they are perfectly adequiate. I have an original Dickson post and have added quite a few imported copies of the toolholders, a few of which needed a bit of adjustment to get them to fit 100%. Another source of the imported holders is Chronos

If you do go for this type of post then its worth getting one of the Myford extended holders as these are very useful when working on small items when the tailstock is being used for support.

Hi Thilo

I bought mine from here

http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Machines-Accessories/Lathe-Accessories/Tool-Posts

It's designed for the Seig C6 lathe. I just had to open out the centre hole a touch to fit the myford tool post stud.

Thank you for your answers. I will go for the Dixon/ Dickson as it hopefully needs no modification and the price is nice.
