Hey I'm Erik from the Netherlands. I'm relatively new to model engineering but not to machining (I've been making my allowance behind a lathe since I was 12)

I have a question about the plans from www.myhobbystore.co.uk .
I'd like to know if they are any good, or at least peoples experience with them. I've have ordered plans for other stuff like model boats and what not trough the internet before. But I've always had issues with them, either the copies where way to dark to be useful, so light half the measurements where unreadable or incompleet. With a model boat I can eyeball a few things, but in a model IC engine it'd be nice to know stuff like the cam profile or the bore diameter  .

Kind regards Erik.

I have bought plans for the Gordon Nano 0.1 cc and the Topsy 0.37 cc CI engines from My Hobby Store. Both were barely legible copies, and in the case of the Topsy, partly illegible. I was able to fill in the missing information through internet searches, scaling the drawings, and remodeling in CAD. My Hobby Store seems to make copies of copies of copies, and does not check the quality of their copies. However, I haven't got much choice.

Just what I was afraid of. I guess I'll just have to stick with either free plans or order something from America.

Hi Erik. Our " download" section may have what youre looking for.

Yes I looked there, great stuff. But it's mostly steam engines or did I overlook some things?

It would be nice to know what type of engines you are interested in, then we can most probably steer you in the correct direction.

Oh I indeed didn't say that, I'm sorry. I'm mostly looking into IC and the kind that could have some use. Maybe in a boat or something like that. I made enough compressed air engines in highschool to know that it's not my thing.

One source of online free IC plans is:

For boats one of my favorites is the Whippet which is the 6th one down on the above link. The original was built from castings, but an experienced machinist can build it from bar stock, as several have done. I believe the castings are still available. It is an old but very functional design.

That's great, thanks!
And the stupid thing is that I already knew about that site. But only the bit of airsoft tat he has on there.

Thanks again though.
