This is something I am very pleased with, mainly because it didn't cost much

.
It is a digital vernier cut about and shaped to a scriber, the upright has the vernier bit cut off and clamped into two ms blocks.
It works great.

My first reaction is... this is fantastic.... simply so simple.... its good because Im in the market for a height gauge RIGHT NOW..... Ill need to absorb this some more. but... great concept mate.... ;)

Me too !

Been looking for a height guage for ages now (at reasonable price), I already have a spare digital caliper.
All I need now is a base, I have some ally, wonder if this would suffice?

Gordy, couldnt help notice your sig line.... "Why is the word Phonetic NOT spelled with an F?" My question is.... What mongrel put an S in LISP?

Good job on the height gage. The only modification I would make would be to add a hardened scribing blade fastened to the tip. That way it can be used to mark parts directly. Thm:

My only "objection" would be, without the tiny lead screw it may be difficult to set it
to a certain dimension for scribing purpose. For just measuring great.

I think Ally for the base would be to light so not very stable ,the vernier blade is quite tough and will scribe direct but I had it in mind to mount a gauge plate scriber in a stirrup if it should wear quickly.I have found it a lot better than a scribing block and rule.
