Hi all,
Now that my flame eater is up and running, I was hoping to give either a stirling or lamina flow engine a go. It seems that graphite rod is the way to go for the pistons. Does anyone know of a supplier in Australia? preferably in Sydney.
All my searches keep directing me to fishing tackle shops.
Cheers

Hi Tin
I have tried all the local EDM users, but they all use copper for their electrodes,
I'll have another try tomorrow

depending on the size needed maybe a battery would yield a piece for you....maybe a 'd' cell?

Hi
What size graphite are you after?
I happen to have a few bits from a previous job that may get you out or into trouble and I'm in sydney

I found and old box with and suppliers name on it
United Engraving Pty Ltd which is now Unimark Pty Ltd
http://www.unimark.com.au/uniteden.asp

Their Address is

Unimark Pty. Ltd.
31 Sages Road
Glenroy, Vic 3046
Ph: 1300 242 060 Fax: (03) 9359 4008

Try an art supply store as well. I've found solid graphite "pencils" up to about 1" diameter and even random chunks of mined graphite at those type places.
