Global WM280v Lathe electrical fault?

:-[ hi I have one of these Chinese lathes which I have used quite a bit but I have on two occasions had a failure with the drive. The first required a new start capacitor.
Just today (saturday of course!) she stopped on me while running and wouldn't go again The visual speed readout when starting shows momentarily two zero to the left of the decimal point on the display and two continuously lit zeros to the right of the decimal point. Other than that I have I have no other symptoms I can find. Was previously just carrying out some very light cutting surfacing an alumimum block.
I notice some posts back in 2008 referred to this lathe from various suppliers over your side of the globe.
Here in NZ the supplier is Chevpac Ltd. Those posts also identified that the speed control may have been of German manufacture.
Any help appreciated.

I have the same lathe but with power cross feed, the Warco WM280V-F, the only electrical issue I had was the motor hunting and this turned out to be uneven brush wear which I had heard of previously, easily cured by new brushes.

There are several others on here who have the same base lathe by on eof several suppliers.
They are also marketed in the UK by Chester, Warco, Amadeal. In Europe the most common is Optimum & Quantum and in the US and Canada the Weiss branded ones are available.

: Thanks for replies to date.
Just repeating what happened.
While doing some light machining I stopped to check dimensions.
Upon trying to start again no rotation.
On the speed display which is in the form of two digits a decimal point and two more digits, the right hand two were fully lit the other two absent. Repeated stopping and restarting using the push buttons did nothing, the only thing being noted was that each time the start button was pushes very briefly the left hand two digits on the display lit up and displayed two zeros. Changing the speed setting knob did nothing. Checking the guard micro switch just proved it was working fine.
