Looking for some advice on the best way for creating the crankshaft and camshaft holes. I have roughed most of the material away by drilling from both ends but now I'm at the step where they can be taken to size ensuring they're true and parallel to each other.

We've tried line boring on some scrap aluminium and not getting consistent results with it, personally I think the bar is too small a diameter and is flexing as it's cutting even on light cuts. My next thought is to mount it on the lathe and use a long series reamer for both holes which would give a significantly better finish then I've been getting with line boring. Can anyone can offer any advice or perhaps a different method?

Clamped my assembly to an angle plate and used a boring bar. As long as the tool is sharp you should be able to make nice cuts.

I used the lathe to bore mine since my mill did not have enough quill travel to go the length of the block.
It worked well though it took longer and required a setup for each hole.
Sorry no pictures.

Thanks for the information, we do have a set of boring bars for the mill so I'll check I have enough quill travel to get through it all, if not I may do as John mentioned and mount it on the lathe.
