Cast Iron Boring Head

If you want to use cast iron and are worried about the threads holding, you might consider screwing in a larger steel slug where the screws are to go and tapping this slug for the correct size threads. Sort of Helicoil principle.

I'll try just tapping them first, then put in a plug if they fail.
