You pickup from local supply. I pickup from a company that sold sandblasting supplies.
Remember it is also used in kitty litter too. Shipping is a killer so local suppliers is best price.
If look at some of foundry supplies adds fined what is and look local.

Dave

Wrong not. Let me repeat I hare that.

Bentone. Not what is posted.

Bentone. Big difference like oil and water.

Lol bingo there's two types but yes oh boy long ago A lip stick company I worked for all of cosmetics as a mechanic. That clay. Is amazing

I had to tell my boss at work. We could not find a odd casted part at lunch. I got grabbed and he said.

Go make this. In one day done

Lol there's other stuff with that to like bat crap. Go look it up I know fixing mixers. Glad it had no smell

But bentone. Great stuff. Bentone Not kitty oil spill.

I bought a bag of what I think was Bentone at Lancaster Foundry Supply, Lancaster Pa.
Not 100% but think that is what is used in Petro Bond Sand?
Very expensive in comparrison to Bentonite.

If look up what is in Petro Bond it is Clay.
I have used both water and oil boded sand.
The lowest cost to use is Natural Bond with water.
Foundry Supply companies do not make a lot money off Natural Bond sands.
If have new crew to Foundry work oil Bond is the best choice but more work and equipment.

Natural Bond is simply to use add water. Someone new will get water off. So never mix at one time as with some dry sand you fix wet sand.

Dave

Lol they have it all. Thanks Dave. The bentone I had small box of was for casting.

I think all will like this parts for repairs in some old cosmetic companys.
Lol. Yes same type of clay. I miss it due to its finish. Very satin.
And no I call smoke lines. You see in a fresh casting
The stuff wipes off or lite buff

I try out side the box stuff for sand. Safety is first. So tons of reading and a Safety try. Long ladle

This was first try and I casted more. I just say wow. Now cost per pound after tax. 6.50 per lbs. This mold cost to fill 35.00. Small flask.

One part. Burn out. Sand is not bad just a lite shake out. Sift. Done. Looks neat. Cost. Ouch.

I'm not sure this is the same but it's made in Canada's oil country, the drilling mud and many pond flocculants are made from the same kinds of clay, there is likely a local supplier that would be less expensive if you aren't in Canada.

Bentone makes a K-Bond sand. This screenshot does not look right, but the only clip I can find with the word Bentone.
I mix my oil in first, and I use 91% The Red Bottle Isopropyl (more pure) and not Dry Methane, Alchohol from Wal-Mart as Catalist.
When it dries out, I just add more, humbug saying it never dries out. And adding powder before wet makes clumps.
It is right when it feels right, ha.
And the bentonite is wrong wrong wrong.

Although your link appears to be the wrong thing, Walmart does carry Petrobond Foundry Sand.
Walmart fof Bentone.

If read what usd pef ww2 for oil bonded sand is more helpful.
I do not book any more . In book talk about using oil in sand this per dates Petrobond and K bone sand.
The hardest part is you need a muller.
They easy build the gear box is problem. I would at around 20 pould today. The smaller size is easier to ind everything you need.

There one sand good is Ramdumson {check spelling.}
It sand with 5% by weight of cement plus 5% to 10% water.
Most foundries like but drawback is it one time use sand They have big pile of sanssand. In hobby casting making a few casting a year not problem.

All supplies come from Home Depot or Lowes.

A 50 lb bag of cemmet with 950 pounds of sand give 1,000 pounds of casting sand.

Thank you all this is why I ask

And yes mostly I was told this k bond is a type now the guy was mixing it and said he is not mixing k bond.

I'll,repeat this is why I just ask listen then walk away.

Ok from a earth view you get this from the west and there some in the east. What are the main factors

Or is this the job type or personal way to do the action of casting. And it's materials

Alot of ok how. Thank you all let's see. A great way for all to learn and try.
