    My Arduino/Stepper Setup

Nice work Chuck, looking forward to watching this progress Thm:

What a friendly site this is

You are not the first member to be rubbed the wrong way, not even the second or third and sadly, probably not the last. Pretentious, condescending, antagonistic and sometimes downright obscure and convoluted. I get the feeling this member may be lonely with no one to talk to, I honestly don't...

    Another X2 Mod thread

Hi Steve, apologies if I missed it in an earlier post, just wondering what servo's are you using? They look plenty capable in the video, nice work.

Paper Tray Motor with rotary encoder

The red and blue wires? They look to be the motor wires. Of the three remaining, one would be common to both the LED cathode and PT emitter(G in the image I have borrowed), another would be the LED anode(E), the last would be the PT collector(S). Tho which is which could only be determined by...

Paper Tray Motor with rotary encoder

With only three wires I would suspect it's not a quad, just a simple photo interrupter with the LED cathode and the Photo-transistor emitter tied together.

Paper Tray Motor with rotary encoder

Page 3 and 4 of TB's link should help you determine which lead does what. True, yours isn't identical to those pictured, but most optical encoders work the same. Luc's post is for an optocoupler which is kinda similar but not same. What you have is a photo interrupter, with the disc it is known...

    Mini Mill Stopped Working

They're resistors, 0.33 ohms, 5 watt wirewound ceramic. If the repaired leads don't hold up, these cost about 50 cents each at any decent electronics store.

    Arduino based CNC

Long answer, yes. Short answer, no. Steve makes the C source available in the same zip file that contains the hex. You will get far more mileage porting the C source, definitely doable, but a big job due to different hardware. Probably better off starting from scratch but porting code...

Correct, just one half. I've not read of anyone having any issues with it. It does feel like a very positive engagement. It is difficult to see, but it looks to have about 1.5 - 2" of engagement which means it's covering about 20 - 25 threads. I'm not expecting to screwcut very often anyway, but...

Well, it's in the shop. Wasn't easy though, I didn't have anyone to help me and I didn't want to leave it in the back of the car overnight tempting every passer-by, so I had to carry it in. Fortunately I'm still pretty fit and I'm not exactly small(6'5" and 105kg/230lbs) so it was an effort...

Might get to play.... I'm going to give it a very detailed inspection, electrical and all to make sure nothing is out of sorts. The condition of the crate says it went through some pretty rough handling on its long voyage :( To store the box of accessories, it was wedged between the 3 jaw chuck...

Woot! Mine finally got delivered today. Crate is demolished but I had a quick visual inspection and everything appears to be ok. Will obviously give it a detailed inspection when I get it home. It looked as though Carbatec had failed to include the faceplate I ordered, as it was nowhere to be...

    Tooling

I bought a bag full of the Richon tools a couple of years ago, vague memory of hearing about them from John. From memory I got two each of the HSS 2F and 4F sizes up to 3mm, and one each up to 10mm and all sizes of the the ball nose. One cutter came with a defect, I tossed it in the bin. I...

    Arduino anyone

Hmmmm, probably not a good idea to upload copyrighted material to the HMEM download section, publishers tend to take a dim view of copyright infringement.

    Rpm indicator

I also took the missus to that movie and we both enjoyed it muchly. Unfortunately, as is typical with Hollywood, they have taken liberties but still a good story. I found it rather sad though that we watched the movie on its opening night and we were only one of maybe 4 couples in the cinema...

Interesting that it isn't covered in the thick red grease, my C3 was covered in it like icing on a cake! I see sieg are still using that quality plywood! I used the plywood from my C3 and X2 to build a beer crate. Makes a good conversation starter at parties haha.

Yes, probably a safe bet mine kept yours company until it got to Sydney. If that's the case then mine will be travelling around 5000 kilometres!
