Howdy from DFW area of Texas. After 60+ years as an automotive engine machinist I finally retired and am
looking forward to machining model IC engines. I have a fairly well equipped home workshop.
Looking forward to sharing and learning.

Welcome! Sister-in-law lived in Frisco for many years until JCP relocated her to Virginia (Virginia Beach, but she drives to her other place in OC NJ for the weekends since most of her siblings live there year round).

LOL... thanks, but it's not always as clean. mostly a mix of CNC & manual machinery, plus all the usual "support" equipment: bandsaw, drill press, grinders, iron worker, TIG welder, plasma cutter, casting/heat treat oven, etc.
Just a collection of surplus machinery & tooling no longer being used at my engine remanufacturing biz.
I'm about 80 miles from Frisco, in the sticks southwest of Ft Worth.

Have you selected and engine project yet?
started making four 4-cyl opposed engines, based on Chuck Fellows plans from ~15 yrs ago. air-powered, gear driven rotary valves. (I have 60 yrs experience remanufacturing VW/Porsche engines, so a flat 4-cyl seemed like a natural selection :) I have most of the mat'l, small parts, etc gathered, Crankcases are done, con rods are partially finished, crank "wheels" and pins are done ( press together like a Harley crank - I have 50 yrs working on my Harleys too :). I made spur gears to drive "cam" (aka rotary valve) shaft), but am considering making helix gears, as they run a little quieter. Biggest problem is, despite being retired from "active duty" at my engine machine shop biz, I still manufacture items for "legacy" customers... currently working on making 20 hi-performance throttle bodies for Dodge Hemi. Then a I have a 100 new VW engine cases to modify (pic attached). Finding time to work on my models is tougher than when I was "active duty" - hope to live long enough to finish LOL.

2009 ... bought new ... mostly to do minor ops, didn't expect much out of it, but it has proved to be a workhorse, very reliable and reasonably accurate. Enco was owned by Manhattan Supply Company (MSC) ... was sorry to see MSC do away with Enco.

Yes, I liked Enco too. Used to get a lot of good stuff from them. MSC bot them, I thimpfk, in order to reduce competition and presumably to pick up their customers. Didn't work with me.

I drove a 66 for many years.
Supremely good snow and ice car.

I bought a 68 BEETLE IN 72. Restored it and used as daily driver for 19 yr. still have it - over 400k miles on it.
made this sign for a friend... cut on my cnc plasma table from 11ga steel
