Hi, I really need some advice to bore out an eccentric pocket in this water pump body. I was looking for some suggestions as I am not sure what boring tool would be best to use to ensure a flat top/bottom with nice square corners ?'
I was thinking thus far.... create the stock on the lathe then drill the offset 1/4" through hole on the Mill. return to the lathe 4 jaw chuck and center against the hole to create the 1st threaded pocket. Then was assuming dial in the outer perimeter on the 4 jaw chuck for the eccentric pocket. But then what tooling would I use for the pocket. Not sure I could grind a 1/2" HSS blank to create a 3 sided boring tool. Was looking at T-Slot cutters and setup as a boring bar ! just use one tooth but dont think it would cut the bottom very well and tricky to find one with a correct size between tip and shank..
thanks
