I think most of us have probably seen them .
A little tool that allows you to use steel wire to make hose clamps .
If not do a youtube search for "clamptite" .
There are a couple of videos explaining how it works .
I'm currently converting an old car to propane injection , so I need a lot of
small low pressure hose clamps . I decided to have a go at making one .
A couple of scrap box pieces , some milling and a little lathe work is all it takes .
It was a fun afternoon project , and to my surprise it works better then
anticipated . Altough I wouldn't use this kind of clamp for a high pressure hydraulic
hose , there is certainly an area where it can be very usefull .
Especially when the box of clamps of the needed size is empty .... as it usually is .
The wire used is 1mm "garden" wire .
The green plastified version looks better , but the plain steel one seems to make
a tighter clamp . I can really hourglass that hose if I want to .
I don't have any plans , and the dimensions were guesstimated while machining .
A few pictures .
