Basil, exactly my experience too. I have ended up with a Larry Davidson coil driven by a 2S Lipo. Maybe I had ruined the coil already and this is why it takes so many volts to make an acceptable spark? It's much better with the 2S and a Minimag 6V coil but the latter weighs 4 ounces which I'm not prepared to tolerate in the air. Vibration has not proven a problem at the rpm it runs, about 7K. Nice looking motor and mount and tank.

Thanks Roy, I have contacted Larry but unfortunately he has lost his supplier of coils. Bugger it! His coil would have fitted in my mount perfectly. I think also my coil may have got hot and lost its efficiently. I do like the look of his solid state ignition with power cutoff so I am probably going to order that. I am not in a massive rush to run it. Its is nice and free and has good compression so I am convinced it will run given a good spark.
On to my next project. 👍
