Just watching news reports on snow storms across the Northern States in the US. Hope members in this region have plenty of heating in their workshops, may be stuck there for a while.

Paul.

no heat in mine. ugh.. anyway we get used to it. it's kinda a regular thing. news stations blow it up when there is nothing to report. I'm already all dug out and roads are perfectly clear. Friday night was the only time anyone was actually stuck. most cities respond to the situation quick and are equipped to remove the snow in a timely fashion.

just a hand full of states got hit bad. Top par of NJ 6-12 inches the mountains of PA about 6". New england did get hammered between 2 and three feet but light snow up THere. Nothing where I am at .Went to a small show and the roads clear.

Not a big deal in Maine. The highway departments know how to deal with snow. I measured 56cm (that sounds more impressive than 22 inches :) ), which is a significant amount of snow but my road remained passable throughout the storm and as soon as I dug out my driveway I could go anywhere.

The weather forecasters did an excellent job predicting the storm, so everybody was ready for it.

I was told we had about 30" here although I have not been out yet. Just glad it was this weekend and not next. Really want to go to the NEMES show.

We were hit pretty bad. 28" of wet heavy snow. I ran the snowblower a few times during the storm to keep it knocked down to a manageable level.

My road has yet to be plowed. Even with a 4wd drive pickup and good tires, I'm stuck here. I'm pretty sure the truck wouldn't get through that stuff. Especially now since it got cold and the snow is hard and stiff. I might be able to swing it with a good start and some momentum, but I'm at the end of the street so I'd have to back up and turn around to get going. That's a recipe for getting stuck for sure.

I tried helping out the neighbors yesterday, but the snow is just too deep and hard for my snowblower. Besides, with an unplowed road were all not going anywhere anyhow.

Oh well, I got a bunch done on the Farm Boy engine yesterday after I cleaned off the cars and cleared the driveway.... I'll post some pics to the build thread a bit later...

We did Ok in Boothbay Maine. I could not measure a depth, since the blowing created great drifts. Its nearly 5 ft deep on my deck, there is a picnic table and 6 chairs almost fully covered, yet the driveway in front of my garage was base pavement.

The wind was very strong. I have a Shelter Logic temporary building over my boat and I though it was going to blow away. The end flaps puller the zippers open and snow blew through it covering my boat.

Here is the view out my office door.

Hi,

We here in Belgium also get some snow every year.
Not one city or community in our country is equipped with the necessary tools to remove quickly snow from our roads. Only a few mobile snow shovels are available.
When snow starts to fall the government waits for the right moment to sprinkle salt(TONS of it) onto the roads and hope for the best.
In case of 4" to 5" snow our country is a complete chaos, even trains are blocked..
