Been confined to my recliner all day with a fever, a cough, and a very sore throat. Guess the shop will be on hold for a few days.... Ugh!

Look after yourself chuck. I haven't been great myself the last couple of months with one thing then another.

Paul.

Wishing you a healthy, New Year, and, a rapid recovery.

From what I see in the posts it’s too hot in Australia and too cold everywhere else. A couple of days in a warm comfortable chair might be a good idea. I just started working on the Hit n Miss version of your "Horizontal Single". Take care of yourself sir.

Hey, Chuck
Feeling any better?

Thanks, all, for the well wishes. I'm pretty much back to normal except for a lot of coughing. Hopefully it'll all be gone in a few more days.

Hey, Bob, if you want to more easily make it a hit n miss, I can provide you a way to do it. With the new arrangement, the mechanism holds the valve closed until you want it to "fire". It uses what's called a quick exhaust valve or blow off valve so that when the governor releases it, the input pressure blows the valve open. The cam then recloses the valve and the governor latches it shut until the next firing cycle. Here's a video of one of my engines using that valve arrangement.

As you can hear, there is no air leakage between firing strokes.
