Hi,

Newbie SteveO

Does anybody know if a CXA size toolblock will fit a BXA body. I need to use a 3/4" shank toolholder, but maximum a BXA block will hold is 5/8". I guess I could machine the slot to 3/4" on an existing 5/8", but would reduce the strength. If the 'dovetail' part is the same width for a CXA as a BXA I do not have height issues.

I believe the bodies are termed 200 (BXA) and 300 (CXA).

I can get a CXA from CDCO for $16 so not worth the time to make one and if I did I could not surface harden. I have considered machining down a 3/4" shank to 5/8" high as a possibility

Any and all help really appreciated.

I was wondering the same some time ago and don't remember where I found the numbers. The tool holders only fit the matching size tool post. I'd just machine the tool holder shank. It's common, even in the production machine shop.

Thanks, for the input.

I will machine down the 3/4 toolholder shank to fit a 5/8 post.
