I have some oil hardening ground flat stock that I need to rivet and silversolder another piece to.
Hardening is not required but what will the effect of the silversoldering have on the steel.
Do I just place the hot soldered part in a sand bath to cool slowly or will the soldering temperature have altered the steel structure.
The oil hardening ground flat stock was of a size that was convenient for the project otherwise it could have been mild steel.

Commercial oil hardening steel comes fully annealed, so silver soldering will have no effect. Just let it cool in air, and proceed with your work.
