Just got my version of The Whazit engine out of "The Shop Wisdom of Philip Duclose" running. His engine designs are the most robust I have built. Once they are running the require very little work to maintain.
I added electronic ignition, used an o-ring for a piston ring, and used a set of gears I already had that had a different number of teeth so I had to do a little modification around that. Otherwise is it his design.
Great build and I got it running very easily.
Hope you enjoy

Great job. I have the book too and I made his Odds n Ends engine.

I always thought Philip Duclos had fun thinking up other ways to make an engine. My first engine was his "Maverick" partly because it didn't need gears.
Also built the "Whatzit" and "Gearless".
