I just picked up this Offy Model. I have the plans from Ron for the one he built. Did he make these castings and have them available at one time? Did anyone else cast these Offy’s? I plan to disassemble this engine, check dimensions and tolerances and try to get it to run!

Here is also a v8 model…possibly a Profi? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Wow, that is quite a find. The Offy really looks nice. If you have Ron's plans you will see that he did not use castings but machined from the solid. Good luck getting her to run, I want to see it!
The Offy is a Gem! I bought these 2, a Jemma 7 cyl radial, and a 2cyl aero engine. Gave the 7 cyl radial to my dad for Xmas, made a nice addition to his 1/4 scale Merlin!
Thank you for the help

The Whittle engine plans and build were published in Model Engineering beginning in April 1995. There is a group at
WittleV8 groups.io Group . They have additional information on the plans and errors found during builds.

Did you happen to snap some pics of the Jemma radial before your nice gift? I remember it from SIC. I think it was ignition (vs. glow) but I might be mistaken.

I'm guessing very few of these Offy 270 have been made, you should track down who the builder is and when it was finished and add a brass plaque to the box to honor the builder.

That is the largest bic lighter I have ever seen.

I spoke with Ron Colonna at the Cabin Fever Expo this past weekend and he told me about the book he published about 20 years ago titled: Building the 1/4 Scale 270 Offy: A Workshop Manual. He said that 15,000 copies were sold, but, he isn't selling the book or plans anymore. I've been searching to see if anyone has a copy sitting on the shelf that they would be willing to sell.

I’d like a copy of you can get your hands on one

I have the plans and book I got from Ron some years ago at the NAMES show in Detroit. There's no castings because its completely fabricated and was never intended to have any cast parts. He does fantastic work too.
