Hello everyone,

A friend and I have full access to a car machining factory and are in the process of building a 1/9th scale Spitfire Mk.IX. However, we need some engine plans. I have been able to locate a few 2 cylinder engines. However, ideally, i would like to build a model Merlin engine but do not have any plans and have not been able to locate any. If anyone could help us by giving us some model engine plans (scale of plans is regardless), it would be a massive help. Preferably we would like at least 4 cylinders, a V-12 Merlin would be amazing.

So once again, any plans would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advanced,

Cameron.

Hi Cameron,
In your post you say you would like drawings for at least a 4 cylinder but a Merlin 12 would be amazing. I am thinking that the 4 cylinder (not being prototypical) would be for actual flying power but the Merlin would be for static display?

If you require any info on Merlins, try my friend, Peter Grieve. He has restored some full size engines and may be able to help with plans, but I will say they will not be cheap, I have seen what he has paid for drawings in the past !!!
His website is here:-

Hi Cameron,

You said that you have found some two cylinder IC model engine plans, can you tell me how or where I could find these if possible.

Thanks
Andrei

Merlin plans on DVD here - about a quarter way down the page

Well, it´s not a Merlin, but a Rolls Royce V12 anyway. And there´s LOTS more to see here.

I can´t see how that could be made without drawings. Another thing is, if Mr. Tryggve Örkenrud would be willing to copy them. I haven´t made any inquiries. That´s way beyond me. But you might persuade him...

See also the shop pictures. Something to drool about. Some Swedes do it in style...

Tel;
Thanks for posting that site - I'd been to it before but never noticed the engine plans were buried in there.....bingo!
Cheers

Garry (gmac) do you have a link to the whereabouts of those plans? I can't seem to find them.
