Hi Timo, Perhaps that is why I have not tried to make one - yet? :eek:
I did think the variator roller - maybe just 2 needed? - would be an o-ring around a small ball bearing... perhaps with a dot of glue?
The pair of plates with "circular" grooves to mate with the rotating rollers would need a bit of a tool making. - Not a big problem. The planetary gearbox could be a drill gearbox - as I have old "past-it" drills in my kit. - I even have a small one from a battery screwdriver...
I would mount a sprocket or toothed-belt pulley on the outside of the planetary gearbox outer gear to extract the power from the device. - The rest is just shafts, pinions, and geometry?
Or I could by a ride-on lawnmower (of the appropriate brand?) from the USA and use the torotrak gearbox from that! - They may even sell spares? - I just don't know who used the variator...
