Making a Phase 2 QCTP 100 Series Tool Holder

Hi All, I need to make another tool holder and I don't have any dove tail cutters. I know that the angle needed is 60 degrees but I am not sure of the diameter and the width that I need to order to make the dovetail for the 100 series. Since I don't own any dovetail cutters and have never ordered any, can someone give me some advice so that I order the correct size. Thank you in advance.

I use a 3/4" 60 degree 3/8" shank to make mine.

Yup that sounds about right deere.

You can measure the holders that you have using roll dimensions.

Another way to make the dovetail is tilting the head on the mill in the correct angles (If your mill can tilt the head) and then with a double cutting slit saw milling the dovetail. I've used this way once in a similar project where I couldn't get a hold on a dovetail cutter large enough in the correct angle. This is just a suggestion, using a dovetail cutter is of course the best way. Good luck! somehow you always need another toolholder! hehe

Tin-Good point, $9 would be less than the cost of the dovetail cutter but.....making one would be a good learning experience.
mhh-great idea but unfortunately my mill does not have a tilting head. Always nice to know that there is another way to skin the cat.

If you are going to the trouble of making one and buying a dovetail cutter make 3 or four then cut apart and finish
