HP DesignJet 750



Found this in the local salvage yard, for Free. It even had an almost full roll of paper on it. In a cartridge alignment test, it only prints in cyan. So next I need to determine if the other cartridges are empty or plugged. Could also be in the carriage electrical wiring.

Does anyone out there happen to have the install CD for this printer, and be willing to copy the files? It would be much appreciated. I could not find it on HP web site.

Appears it will work with Windows 7, if I can find out how to install the driver.

Gary, I just junked out an HP 750 and 650 because of windows 10 and driver obsolescence. you can download (maybe) the driver for the 650 from HP. Others in the same boat I was have mentioned using an HP 1055 driver which will work except the 1055 has a 42: platen versus the 750's 36". fpor plugged printer cartridges, I use a cotton ball and warm water to clean the heads. If you are interested in some cartridges for the machine, I have a bunch to get rid of cheap. contact me if you are interested Window 7 might have the drivers built in as I don't remember which operating system prior to win 10 this happened.

nodaker, Where you located?

I found the driver. The driver did not come with install.exe, it only unzipped to one dll file. Thought there would be pdf file operators manual, but no.

My method is to hang on to a good working XP system and use what really worked well with such equipment! I keep a few XP systems for parts and pieces, the software all still works and I never go online with them, the work and run as well today as they did 15 years ago!

Gary, I am in sunny warm north Dakota hence the handle. I was able to download the manual for the HP 650 some time ago but could not find the 750 manual. What cad system are you using? I believe earlier versions of Acad had the HP plotters built in. I am running win 10 and ame using an earlier version of acad 2007.
The 750 is quite similar. I will go through my downloads and see it I can find the 650 manual and driver and send them to you

I using Intellicad 6 Pro. Ihave installed the pl532en driver on an old Windows XP system. Right now the plotter is out in the Shop, and the XP is in the basement. Don't want yo move it to the basement until i can get the black ink working in test mode.

So I guess your 650 is working ok with a USB to parallel adapter,

Did some more trouble shooting today. Like I said before, only the cyan will print in a cartridge alignment test. So I unplugged the 2 ribbon cables (each with 30 traces) feeding the print carriage and did a continuity check. Found 6 on one and 3 on the other that were open.

Found a set on e-bay for 17 dollars and free shipping, so guess I'll give it a go.

I developed a serious dislike for microsoft and windows a number of years ago.
Since I moved to a linux platform, Mint. I did try a number of other linux variety's and settled on Mint
I have been happy with few issues that I have not been able to overcome.
I have found the printer compatibility to be pretty good. The OS is able to automatically mount a printer easily and it may detect and mount your free printer as well. I have no experience with your free printer but you should look into Mint or another OS.
I use Mint because it installs eas9ly and almost automatically. I am not very computer knowledgeable but the one feature of mint that I Love is it is free.
There is a large body of very knowledgeable people out in the world to draw on.

PS I bought the components for the computer I am running now and ti works great. My computer also runs a lot cooler than the previous computers.
With some research you can find and buy a conventional hard drive that is high quality, much better than the cheap ones. I had a number of HD fails with the cheap units,
I also uss a SSD for my main drive. The boot speed is awesome.
I also hate the ink cartridges. I use a black and white printer that uses a dry powder toner.
Long lasting and does not dry out. The cost of the cartriges is too high foe the use I have for a printer. I don't miss the colors :<).
