Hi all,
I recently aquired a very well built Gingery Lathe.
It was all hand cast and finished by a machinist about 20 years or so ago.
It is about 33 inches in length and has 3 speeds via a pulley system.
It has auto feed in both directions too!
My question is this:
I have read David Gingery's book on construction of the lathe but mine is slightly different to his original design.
My lathe has a cable pulley system for moving the carriage along the bed.
because of the design it does not allow the carriage to move close to the headstock.
It seems that the cables become too taught and prevent it from moving back alongn the bed.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these types of lathes and could provide some info or ides??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I will try and upload some pics tonight!
Andrew
