First run of a 5" Rider-Ericsson

Been working on this on and off for a couple of years.
It's for a customer/friend.

Well, it is 5" bore, so pretty big!
Have to do some finishing work and the fire box next.
But it was good to see it run with essentially no goofing around.

That’s a great scale! Will the pump move water when completed? Is there a water jacket for the “cold” end?

That was its primary function, pumping water.

Yes.
For the first run I disconnected the pump.
But to have real efficiency the cold side needs to be cooled by the water it pumps through the cold side water jacket.

The Rider Ericsson catalog lists 5,6,8 and 10” models for domestic water pumping.
So this engine is full size as is.
