Hi,
My version of an Ellie has recently been finished having taken a couple of years on and off to build. From those who might not know the model it is a simple design that can be run by moving its wheels on either gauge '1' or '0' (45/32 mm) track. The model is meths fired and uses a geared single acting oscillating engine to power it. My Ellie is gas fired with a geared double acting oscillating engine for power fitted with a reversing valve and the transmission is by chain rather than the designed side rods. The combination of gas firing and the twenty two heat exchanging staples under the boiler means that the boiler produces too much steam for the engine. So, when time permits the existing burner will be blanked off a bit or a new one made to reduce the heat output.
Take care Tony.
