The boiler will still have the standard fittings (safety valve, sight glass etc etc), the aim is to achieve a steady water level by automatically refilling the boiler on the run, to extend running times, rather than running from full for 10/15 mins and then having to bring the boat back in to replenish the boiler.You may need to check if boiler engineering requirements allow the use of electronic control in a boiler safety system.

Jens, thank you so much that looks fantastic. I really y do appreciate you taking the time to reply. Do you still use the system as shown or have you continued to develop it?
I'm still using this system with phototransistor/LED attached to water level sight glass. Works very well.
Does the photo transistor detect the the water itself, or did you put some floating device into the glas tube to cover the transistor?
