I used collects and end mill holders
They both work great.
The end mill will crepe around with both types.

When first started using Bridge Port mills I used collects. I found both holders work the same.

The ER collects have good adds.

You buy collects for morse tapper 2-4 and R8 there are other types but less command.

Today I just use end mill holders fast to change.

If you having end mill creep use the next smaller end mill then finish with size you need.

I was wondering if there is a reason for using ER collets with end mills? Does it reduces runout because it has more contact points?

I do not pay much attention to runout on tools larger that 1/8
I use an ER collets for end mills smaller than 1/2" but the real advantage is for any tool that is not fractional where a proper collet or end mill holder is not available.
When drilling and tapping is easier to change to mach the tool size.

ER stick out more than a R8 collet, if I have some metal to move I rather use a large tool in an R8. The Weldon style holder have been sitting mostly unused since I bought the collets.
