I went to check out a new source of materials at a scrapyard run by a man on his property. I spotted a Butler shaper standing out on its own there. It's way to big for me, but I thought someone else might be able to use it. It's in pretty poor condition, and is mostly seized, but most of the parts appear to be there. It weighs over 4 1/2 tons, so you'd need a truck to transport it. The man running the place reckons it's worth at least about $1200. I know it's not my machine, but I wanted to try and stop a good machine going to waste. Anyway, here are some specifications:
Up to 660mm/26" stroke
1220mm/48" horizontal travel
1100mm/40" vertical travel
533x520mm/21"x20" table
457mm/18" wide mount for cutter
10HP 3 phase motor
Power feed on horizontal axis

Is this man and his property south of Adelaide Australia?

No, a few kilometres out of Tamworth, NSW.

Thats spot on 1000 miles. A good weekend round trip. Will check out haulage charges with local freight company after a look. Do you have a phone number plz ?

hi guys, there was a fellow selling shapers in n. s. w. around penrith,he had around 6 of them, found him by typing in shapers for sale, but he seemed like he did not care if he sold them or not, each time i contacted him,so i found a douglas 12' elsewhere, but it took a long time to track down people that have shapers for sale,at a sensable price.
that shaper sounds good until you add up 1200,plus haulage plus rebuild, going to get very expensive.
regards lockie
