I checked again with a cordless drill battery, 18 Volt, 10 A and electrical cables of adequate section but the engine does not turn.
When the piston reaches the TDC in the compression phase it does not have the strength to overcome that point. My Knucklehead has a compression ratio 10:1( effective) , the piston diameter is 36 mm (1.4 inches)
I purchased a 19:1 planetary gearbox, similar to that of cordless drills , should be the right solution.
This should allow me to use the same battery as my cordless Bosch and not have to carry around 2 heavy and bulky 12 volt lead acid batteries.
I don't have a torque meter to measure how much torque is needed, I'm just trying.
