Hi Gus,
No, not indoor conveyor systems. I work as a designer for a company that specializes in ultra fine coal benefication. Getting all the minute coal particals with a process of flotation and/or filter press out of the slime and water. This reduces the major environmental impact that the coal mines have on the ecology. (Mainly acid water). From the filter press we use conveyors to the different stockpiles. Also movable discharge conveyors under filers, running on rails to be positioned above different receiving conveyors

Interesting I do scale work (weighing devices of varied size and capacity) On of my customers does coal recovery. river silt is dredged from the local river bottoms where it coal was either dumped or runoff of years past took it.
the silt is then processed to remove the coal and separate out the sand and other silt Interesting how yesterdays trash can be today's treasure.

So true. South africa is rich in gold deposits, and 100 year mine dumps are being reworked with new technology applied. Not only for gold, but other valuable materials and metals too.

Hi Johann,

Was in Jo'burg 2005 2009 and saw these huge man-made hills and was told they were worth rework with gold above US$400.Was also told Jo'burg sits on a huge honey-comb underground still with plenty of gold deposits.
Missed the steaks and the book stores.

Took my Chinese Boss to "Safari" . When it got dark enough the smaller hippos came near our truck. Wanted to buy one of those Shaka Spear Heads
but missed it.

I don't build engines YET, but I work with aluminum. And 6061 is NOT a good machining aluminum. I would use 2024 or 7075.

Interesting, I will try out your recomendation next time I buy stock. Would it give a better finish ? What cutting speed would you say is in your opinion the best for allu ?

Forgot to say, cutting speed with what cutting fluid combined..at this stage I use Tapmatic for alluminium, but the better the finish the better the end result..

I consider 6061 to be fairly "gummy". It grabs small taps and breaks them if you're not careful. 2024 and 7075 machine better, are harder and stronger, but I'm not sure you can get a much better finish on them. I use as a rule of thumb 200 fpm for all aluminum. So if you are turning a 1.5" diameter piece, you would use 4x200/1.5 = 530 RPM.

If you were bending parts from aluminum, you would have to heat the 6061 (anneal) before bending, (or use something like 5086, 5052, or 3003). 6061 cracks if you try to bend it to steep angles without heat treating it. It age hardens just sitting at room temperature.. 2024 and 7075 are made for machining. They cannot be formed (bent).
