It looked to me like you were trying to rip-off an old man who is also a fellow forum member so I gave you a swift kick in the ass. If that hurt your feelings, well that was the intent as I refuse to believe that anyone can be that ignorant of copyright laws nowadays and you are certainly not a...
He was selling the plans on this very forum only a year ago.

Of course, that's just a silly statement.
Yeah, I'm testing Freecad's new integrated assembly workbench and providing (hopefully) constructive feedback. That's how things work in open source projects. I could assemble the project differently (delete the subassemblies) or use a different workbench like assembly 3 but that's not the point...
I don't mean to be a smart ass, but I would say that if you've been using Freecad for over four years and still haven't gotten it down then it ain't ever gonna happen. Time to throw in the towel and try something else! It's not for everyone. There's plenty of other options available, you'll...
The thing not being mentioned here is that the gears on the Elmer Engine are 48 DP. It's trivial to print lathe change gears and such, but a good print of these fine gears is much more challenging:

First, are you sure the cone pulley is lubed? Does it turn easily? With my lathe, in the cold winter sometimes the lever will want to move until the cone pulley loosens-up a bit. I would usually hold the lever when turning on the lathe and then it would be fine when running.
On my lathe...
If you are thinking about using steam power for a shop David Richards' Youtube channel is an obvious must view:
https://www.youtube.com/@davidrichards5594/videos
If you start at his oldest videos he goes through his entire shop and talks about the boiler maintenance & inspection, water...
Ok, I'll bite. Show me how to make a 0.3mm punch! At least 0.3mm carbide drills are relatively cheap and easy to find.
I've drilled a few 0.3mm holes in 3D printer nozzles with the Dumore drill press which went without drama, but they were brass. Can't say I've drilled stainless shim stock...
I think it's easiest to think of a CAD program as a way to create a description of a 3D object mathematically and then the cad software kernel creates the object in "cyberspace" for further manipulation. Such further uses of the object might include extracting 2 dimensional drawings for shop...
Jim, I understand the needs of the toy engines and often wondered what would be an easy way to replicate the Wilesco shiv texture when I make new pulleys for the Jensen fleet. Your technique of hobbing with a tap is quick and easy and should make pulleys that work really well with the spring belts.
You might be able to get the mounting bolts outside the scroll on the 4" chuck so you can use it on the table if you get that working. You need to disassemble the chuck anyway to remove all the grinding dust and sharp edges.
Stuart Turner S-Type? This video should be set to the 12:00 mark:
John Mills (Doubleboost) did a complete rebuild with videos on this engine.
JasonB, did you ever model this Stuart? I found some old forum entries that you were looking for more information.
The trouble is that $175 doesn't have a whole lot of value anymore and as you noticed you can easily spend more money on gear to fix a tool than to buy a decent one outright. At some point you need to pick you battles as well as no one has infinite shop time, especially when you start looking at...
As an experiment, Preso had some pieces through an online vendor made using the same process to create the raw center portion of some die holders he was making for a giveaway.
About 5 mins into the video he starts on the machining. Seems to go well but as the parts are stainless you have...
To me, it doesn't have the feel of an authentic website as it's so incomplete. The video which is linked is 7 years old and has nothing to do with a "new" mechanism.
Years ago as DRO's became more inexpensive the trav-a-dial became obsolete. Nothing has changed since then.
I received a reply from CRTools, specifically [email protected]:
So there you go. If you give it a shot and order some taps, report back on how it went.
