Nicely done! I have not gotten my 35" model cut down and installed yet. I have been too busy crappie fishing.

Sash weights are potentionaly pretty crappy material. They can contain everything from rancid butter to depleted uranium and will likely not make good tool holders. Seriously, as materials go they are a real crapshoot.

I built one a couple years ago for my 7x12 Seig but since then I have built my QCTP and rebuilt the lathe. It is now rigid enough to benefit from carbide so I mostly use indexable tooling. The one exception is my parting tools...I only use Rex AAA. ;D

I was able to polish out most of the damage. Then I used Kasenit on the sear and trigger. Good to go now. ;D

Well, it took 3 weeks but my 35" DRO finally arrived today. Now I just have to find the time to get it cut down to size and installed. :)

Just use the same air hose that you will be running to the tools. Barbed brass fittings are cheap and reliable, same with worm type hose clamps. That's what I did.

If you must use the compound (and on the 7x lathes removing it is a great way to make the machine MUCH more rigid!) then you need to lock it down tight. I slip a small aluminum block up underneath the compound and crank the handle in to jam the compound up against the block. It helps stiffen...

I made mine out of 6061 2 years ago. No wear, the belt just keeps it shiny. :) The pulley will outlive the machine.

No, the parts I need to build up don't really have enough mass to weld on them. I think I'll just bite the bullet and remake them out of O1.

I am rebuilding an older Barnett crossbow and I need to repair some wear damage to the sear. All of the trigger components are made from mild steel and have grooves worn in them. Ideally I would replicate all the damaged components in something more durable but there are some pretty complex...

Well, that WOULD provide a third display and read head for use on the Z axis. In for a penny in for a pound I guess. Looks like I will have to order a 32" as well.

I wonder if a person could buy one or more uncut lengths of scale material directly from the factory. I bet we could get a group buy together and purchase a few full sticks then cut them to our own specs. I know a few machinists who could do the cutting... :big:
