Don't know how to stop the rot.. I think Myford lathes has some Zamac parts on them also...

Any of us that have had a Atlas or Craftsman lathe know about the Zamac gears.. like has been said.

I have one just like yours, I need to get out in the shop and clean it up and get it working..

The only way I know of without modifying the mill is to just use your center finder..

I would say keep everything with the lathe..

Nice lathe, GreenTwin I found a copy of "How to Use a Lathe" at a yard sale a long time ago, and it started me on a path towards machining and South Bend lathes...

Use a large CO2 bottle like the fast food place has and your CO2 regulator ( was lucky to get one as my job is working with such things} the Coke man gave me a used regulator....
