    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

I didn't mention this before but I had a lot of trouble with the big end bearing (threading it) I made a bout 4 of these and everyone came out with a tapered thread on it, I could not work out why this was happening, I threaded it before drilling the hole so it would not collapse because it is...

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

Got the throttle barrel made, First step was to turn it to size and then drill a 2.5mm hole and then tap for a 3mm hex bolt then I put it in the 4th axis because I didn't want to setup the dividing head So I didn't have to worry about the angel difference between the venture and the slot, after...

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

A little more work on the carby today Got the fuel fitting and the cap to plug up the hole in the side plate, I used solder paste to solder these in place I hadn't used the paste type solder before, it worked quiet well and there was no clean up after with solder running all over where you don't...

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

Got some more work on the carby done The hole for the barrel didn't come out absolutely round so I will run a rear through it and hopefully that will fix it I didn't have a reamer when I drilled it out so I have ordered a 10.5mm, that's about the closest to the size I will need

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

No complaints now Since I change the controller over to Masso it is really good now, never did like mach3 on the lathe and not having a computer is the best thing (it was about to die anyway) The Masso takes a bit to get the hang of on the lathe, but once you get used to it it is good Any...

That part looks good, only a few more to go and you have an engine :) The hobby version of fusion was good when it first became available, but now it has a lot of limitations

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

I speed the videos up to 20x or 8x The cycle time to cut the two slots using a 1/8" end mill and then a 1/16" to clean the corner out was 2min 27sec, the video speed was 8x faster so it came to 31sec The reason is it cuts the file size down and also I tend to think people don't want to watch...

Machined the cut outs in two of the cylinder liners, these are to clear the slave rods The liners were a nice push fit on to a mandrel and machined in the 4th axis

Not much done today, made all the liners the correct length and put the 30 deg taper on the inside bottom of them. Played a round with the laser, and did some assembly

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

Thank you for posting the carby drawings, very much appreciated It has been a challenging build with the head being part of the cylinder, all the different angles and fixtures need to complete them, but it is satisfying once they are completed I do recommend making an extra cylinder to use as...

Im not sure what steel I used for the liners as it is something that I just had on hand, I have made liners with it before though Not sure where I would get 4130 aircraft tubing from

    PIP 3 Cylinder Radial

Finally able to get back to working on the cylinders, the exhaust and inlet ports were machined using the forth axis So the machining of both ports could be done at the same time and in one setup The hole that goes through to the valve cage is on a 15deg angle, the hole top is in line with the...
