Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

No problem. Yes I think it is the difficulty of minuaturising the fuel injection system that is the main reason few diesel models are built. At least with a model there are not any strict performance or emissions criteria to adhere to. Often the main criteria (ignoring aesthetics) are that it...

    Mini diesel engine.

Hi Minh-Thanh I see you have commented on a new thread regarding a model diesel engine, I have replied with some basic info that may be of use to you. https://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/threads/injected-diesel-33-x-66-56-4cc-4-stroke-injector-details.31110/post-364837 Cheers, Dave.

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

Yes essentially, but there are lots of different injection systems and variations. Plunger pumps can be driven from the main valve camshaft or their own seperate camshaft. Small engines especially single cylinder usually have a separate plunger (or jerk) type pump injection like the parts you...

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

An injector with integrated pump is called a "unit injector" in case you don't know. Interesting build will be following along

    WOW

Brilliant! as Tony M said it sounds just like a smaller version of the real thing... normally when engines are scaled down they sound nothing like the real engine. And that crank start is amazingly effective no messing with electric drills. No big box of tricks for the ignition. Truly Incredible.

    T head engine by Brian

Brian great Job you are doing there yet again. I hope you don't object too much to these replies to Gordon in the middle of your thread. Gordon l used my "new to me" rotary table and dividing plates for the first time at the weekend. It came with some instructions and has the 90:1 ratio. See...

    Model generator build from scratch

Well done, you've achieved exactly what you intended. It's a nice looking model that functions and adds interest to the engine that drives it. I totally understand your objectives and reasoning. :)

    Model generator build from scratch

Those castings look really good. Liking the mix of technologies as well, CAD 3D printed parts to make an alternator for a steam engine.

    Model generator build from scratch

Good luck with it, as you say there do not seem to be many sources for kit dynamos/generators. I am in the UK and came across this little unit on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/dynamo-generator-miniature-model-engineering-live-steam-/124182630804?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

Centering in a 4 jaw chuck

Yes, not for every scenario but good for anything with a circular hole that is smaller than the large diameter on the end of the taper on the dead centre, and with anything that has a centre, decent centre punch mark etc. and uses tooling most already have to hand. As with anything we do in the...

Centering in a 4 jaw chuck

The way I was shown was to use two centres one fixed in the tailstock then you put a dead centre between the tailstock centre and the work in the chuck and run your dial gauge/dti on the dead centre. Like shown here https://images.app.goo.gl/iWjGGnWHuvZQQ8jE9

    PMR #3 started.

I made lots of little mistakes (design modifications) on my build. It's a learning curve.. I tried to bore the cylinder to size with a two flute (slot drill) end mill, it was great at the top end but I hadn't noticed the finish deteriorated in the lower half of the cylinder. I left the cylinder...
