    I agree with JEC it is from a Myford ML8 which is a wood turning lathe that has a host of attachments available for woodworking. I had one and have now passed it onto my daughter. Since Keegan is in South Africa there should be some Myford lathes around left over from the days of Empire. Best...

    New Tool Holder.

    This is the tool post from my 1909 Drummond round bed lathe, as you can see it is extremely robust but does require quite a lot of set up time. It is made from cast iron.

    Would a brass crankshaft work on a model engine?

    I used to machine solid cranks (and had failures) so I now make fabricated crankshafts in a similar manner to Mr Janssen. I have never used brass or bronze for the webs but I think that bronze would be best. Regards B
