Coming up on 2 years still enjoying it!

Retirement. I love it , but I needed a dog to keep me active. I have a new pup and machine time has been cut 90% but walking time has been increased the same amount. Just remember to keep the blood flowing, walk etc. Just my 1.414 cents worth.

    A different engine configuration

O.K. no coffee yet, the bell crank does not does not cross over itself ?? in your configuration. My apologies.

    A different engine configuration

All Atkinson's operate that way, I have 4 of them. The cool part is you can get different power vs compression strokes.

    270 Offy

Just my 1.414 cents worth(square root of 2) I make many ignitions for Myself and BAEM members. I really like the Dave Sage IGBT design. I have shrunk it to ~1"square and use SMD components. Instead of Hall sensors I really like the use of a simple reed relay. Not an issue in your case but halls...

How do I model a supercharger rotor?

Just my thoughts. My friend Dwight Giles has a 1/3 scale blown v8 Black Widow. It started to smoke and he allowed me to overhaul it. On rebuild all internals were perfect , some small scoring on the cylinders. I thought just no air cleaner and many years of running at shows. But a close look at...

Piston rings for a larger stirling engine

I agree, I use Gore tek , that is an expanded form of ptfe aka teflon. I cut it into strips rather than trying to make a ring. Just cut a strip the width of your groove and angle cut the ends . Also graphite helps even with PTFE. Friction less and air tight are the goal. I have a Denny that I...

Valve design - which is stronger / better?

Valve design - which is stronger / better?

Just my 1.414 cents worth. 1 thing I think I can contribute to the group I make my my valve spring retainers out of aluminum and put a taper aka center drill counter sink down a bit in the top. Then a small grove in the valve stem . Then on assembly i use copper wire cut to the proper length...

    Atkinson frustrations

Dave the shop is calling you , too bad you will have to find an ignition system for the new engine. It is a nice and moderate temperature here. just my 1.414 cents of motivation.

    Atkinson frustrations

Thanks Dave I find this very interesting. Design it and then make it. The proof is in the pops. 4-1 sounds like most old reliable engines. I think 4-1 CR will definitely work. Make chips! oh yea it's cold in Canada. Well then, think about it,h until it is warm enough. Later Dave.

    270 Offy

Fantastic! I have been following and was very interested in this result. all the model pumps I have seen/built have close tolerances from the impeller to the case . Thanks for all your R&D. a true fan of yours.

    Another PeeWee

Beautiful! I read from the beginning, very informative! Just my 1.414 cents worth, Make your distributor cap out Clear lexan or Plexiglas and polish. There are many ways for sparks to go the wrong way in a small distributor. Being able to see the sparks jump the gap is VERY informative...

    Forrest Edwards radial 5

Thanks for the tear down, just a thought. almost as corrosive as nitro fuel is silicone seal. the gas it emmits for curing can be very corrosive. There are modern no acid silicone seals but the older ones can be nasty. I at one time RTVd (silicone seal) a limit switch bracket to my mill. The...

    Help regarding internal gear

I used Gearotic to cnc machine My Elmers gear engine internal gear. I made it 2x bigger than the plans because I felt it was too small and the endmill required was also too small. I made it out of Delrin. I know you are looking for a single tooth profile, Gearotic does this and the earlier...

    some days i tell ya

O.K. it might just be me, but in my experience, never put that rare/expensive/unreplaceable item somewhere "SPECIAL". I never find that "special" place later, but I never learn. Just my 1.414 cents worth.

Thanks for that. I must admit I hadn't thought much about the parting tool in relation to the cross slide, good on you.
