In a previous thread, I asked about which first i.c. engine I should attempt to build. I settled on the Webster. I also stated I would have questions, and would start another thread.
Well, I started to build the Webster, and have only gotten as far as the base plate with holes completed except threading of 2. I am trying to stick to the plans and specs. as much as possible, although the base it thicker than called for. In my previous thread, I posted questions on the ignition system. I have since done more research on ignition systems. My parameters on the ignition system is to be as frugal as possible. I am trying to build this with materials on hand which I have except the ignition system parts. Some good suggestions in my other thread, one of which was the Rcexl ignition. Other suggestions included building one. My electronics knowledge is very limited, so I would like something simple and inexpensive. The points, condenser, coil and battery system seem to be expensive.
I found this on Amazon (Rcexl) https://www.amazon.com/Rcexl-Automatic-Single-Ignition-6-14-4V/dp/B07R6RSX7K.
First of all, will this kit or a similar kit work? What other items would I need to complete the ignition system (besides spark plug)? Any other inexpensive solutions are welcome. In fact, I am hesitant to spend even the price of the Rcexl. The less money the better, in the event I build a non-runner, which would render any money I spend a waste.
