Reminds me of trying to get the old Rochester fuel injection systems (used on Corvettes) running right. OR what happens when someone accidently cycles a Curtiss electric prop to full feather with the engine (R-3350) running. Flames aplenty, some of which are on the tarmac from fuel being expelled rather than burned. Really kind of pretty, actually. ;D

I bet its a Merlin aircraft engine. I seem to recall seeing that clip somewhere before.

Cheers,

BW

They go well in cars, and if you are going to have one why not go for a set..

That's cool!

It looks like a ground-pounder, some kind of auxiliary power. My guess is an Allison or Packard, maybe picked up surplus from the military.

Then again I could be wrong.

It is said to be a v12 Merlin.

The photo of the car is a V8 "Tank" engine so i am told. There is a guy in australia that did spend a million+ bucks to build a merlin powered car. Truly a one of a kind.

Sorry, Guess I created a little confusion. The bottom two videos are clearly Merlins.

It's the first one I think may be a Packard or Allison.
The valve covers on the first engine don't look like Merlin covers, too tall and don't have the wide part on the aux drive end.

The engine running in the first vid could be a Meteor tank engine looks like the right paint
