WHAT TYPE OF COLLET IS THIS

Hi All
I have a collet set from 5/16 to 1 1/2 inches in 1/16 increments and am having difficulties identifying the type of collet
it is. (IT IS VERY OLD)
Anyone have an idea?

They are too small, the end thread is 1.75 inches diam. x 12 tpi for closing the collet.

Your collet picture is far too small to show any detail !
Blowing it up simply fogs it out of focus. Try a jpg and put it in the middle of the page.

That's an odd one for sure. Hardinge doesn't list anything like it in their catalogs and they cover virtually everything. It's an odd body diameter and short.

It may help to know where you are and which lathe this was on.

I do not know what machine it was originally from.
I made an adaptor and fitted it to my Colchester Master lathe.
I come from GB.

It looks like Trub 42 but most screw machines use a push collect

D&J Collets Ltd are essentially what Crawford Collets left out of their collet range when they decided to relocate and specialise. They will make any collet you ask for, and if you elaborate on the cone angle, they will give an identification; if they sense an impending sale, this may well be given FOC, too.

A look at Machinery's Handbook shows that this is a rare bird. There are no 1.75" OD bodied collets listed and those approximately that diameter are 3-1/2 to 5 inches long, not your stubby 2 inches.

It not a cheap collet
I do have any as sold with screw machine . The set I had was up to 42mm.

2J is 1.625 inch body OD, 3.25 inch long. Not like the drawing OP provided.

The collet in the drawing is post type.
Brown & Sharp and Traub used push type collet
