This is a very simple project, but I thought someone might find the information useful. I made some vise clamps for my screwless vise (my particular model has slots on the side instead of holes).

A write-up and plans are here (even if your vise is different, these may serve as a useful starting point):

Here is one of the completed clamps:

Below is the new clamp, and the old clamp which is being replaced. The old clamps took up more space than necessary, and were real swarf-catchers. I went with bolts instead of socket head screws on the new clamps, as I thought the socket head screws were likely to fill up with chips.

And the new clamp in use:

Nice. Looks like a project to do between projects. I generally clamp my screwless vise in my 6" milling vise, but these could be useful. Thanks.

Stan - what kind of mill do you have?

I do need to get a larger milling vise. I have a Model 3900 HiTorque Mini Mill so I need something bigger, but not too big. I need to do a bit of research to see what is working for other people for my size mill.

Bridgeport with 6" Kurt vise. It does look a bit large when I'm tapping 0-80 threads for my current engine build. I had a Grizzly G0704 before the BP. Liked it a lot.

I have one of those vises. I mostly use it on the surface grinder and for inspection. When I do use it on the mill, I avoid heavy cuts.
I had to make a new nut for the underside as the original stripped thread. Made the replacement a bit longer and used 4140PH, IIRC.
I really like the vise. But I don't believe it is a good habit to use it for milling. At least, that's how I see it.
